I know I'm
supposed to put some biographical information online, but that really makes me uncomfortable.
Those of you who know me
are probably the only ones on my site, or perhaps you've linked here because someone I know has asked you to make a donation
to my cause.
I guess it would be good to know that I'm 46 years old, although I hardly feel it except during
the actual training rides, and I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. I'm currently managing an
Information Technology department for a small manufacturing firm in New Jersey.
I went back to school several years
ago to complete my bachelor's degrees and start on a Master's program, and I am still in school part time two to three
evenings a week.
I still play guitar and write songs and sing occasionally, although, my only audience these
days is my two baby girl pit bulls, my pc and sometime's my mom. I have a few friends I still sing and play along
with on rare occasions when time permits.
I have never been a quitter, and while I sometime take awhile
to make up my mind, once I commit to something I'll see it through to completion. This particular personality quirk
has been both a blessing and a curse.
I think that's all I really want to say about myself for now. I
hope it helps you get to know me a bit.
Let's talk a little about Team in Training as an organization. I must admit, I've taken most
of my information from their official pamphlets and hand outs.
"For 20 years, The Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society's Team in Training (TNT) program has been unparalleled in training people from first timers to seasoned athletes
to achieve their best at marathons, half marathons, triathlons, and 100 - mile century bike rides and hike adventures.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization, dedicated
to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services."
76% of all the money raised by TNT participants
goes directly to funding new research. It's a wonderful organization doing amazing things to help bring about cures
for Leukemia, Myeloma and Lymphoma's.
I feel honored to be a participant in this year's TNT training program.
The coaches are great, the training is well paced, and I know I will be ready to take on Lake Tahoe on June 7, 2009.
